ABSTRACT

This work is a continuation of the studies that have been developed within the Lubrication Management Laboratory, and which has been studying this type of fluids for more than 10 years for a better understanding of their state and behavior in different industrial sectors.

Coolants play an essential role in Industrial applications by improving component life and ensuring high-operations conditions under extreme working conditions at high temperatures.  For many years, this fluid has not been part of the study and today it plays a very important role to control its conditions through FCM - Fluid Condition Monitoring for early warning system in machinery, fault diagnosis and prognosis under condition-based maintenance (CBM). As the global temperature keeps rising and we see new heat records being set every year, the cooling system for many applications has become an even more critical component than it ever was. This paper provides a comprehensive review of coolant types, their functions, and advanced analytical techniques used in different industry us as Automative and Wind sector to better understand their behavior.
